Our family business, Harris Coaches, has served the schools and families of South Australia for 55 years. We are one of the longest-running privately-owned bus operators in South Australia; you, your children, and your parents may have been carried to and from school in safety aboard our buses.
Our roots in South Australia go deep. We support many South Australian community organisations and we are proud to sponsor the Harris Coaches Youth Endeavour Award for SA's "little battlers".
Unfortunately this may all soon come to an end.
Without negotiation SA Minister of Education Jay Weatherill has just awarded to an out-of-state operator exclusive rights to operate many school bus services across South Australia. Quite simply this action will put us and many other small South Australian transport companies out of business. (more information available here)
This is not the first time that Government action has threatened our small industry. In the 1970s we faced a similar threat, and we faced down the Government then with the help of an amazing show of support from the people of South Australia.
